This chapter covers some of the basics of editing your own home videos. You have learned how to use Windows Movie Maker to capture video from your camcorder; edit that video by adding effects, transitions, and/or titles; and save a movie. Windows Movie Maker is a wonderful entry into the world of video editing. It does have limits, however, such as not allowing you to directly burn DVDs. But you can find many third-party applications to solve that problem. For example, Ulead Systems's Video Studio, Sonic's MyDVD, Pinnacle's Studio and Liquid Edition, Adobe Premiere, and a number of other applications offer varying feature sets to help you create great home movies.
